Jemima Collins knew she was far from being a beauty, but as the daughter of a wealthy businessman she wasn't without suitors. Lucian Douglas had known Jemima most of his life. They were good friends in their youth, but the last few years brought a change in his feelings for her. He kept himself busy as he tried to sort out just what he felt for her. What had been friendship had ripened into something more. To him, she was a beauty. Lucian loved her spirited manner and blunt way of speaking. His hands itched to run though those red tresses and to caress those lovely curves of hers. His father's illness brought him home to stay, and Lucian knew what was in his heart regarding Jemima. Would she be able to see him as anything more than a dear friend? He had a plan to that happen, and his heart was fully invested in the scheme.

I loved the first book in this series and was surprised to see this book continued with Lucian and Jemima. If you haven't read book one precious possession this book will not leave you in the dark as to the story but I do highly recommend it. Lucian is smitten with Jemima they were friends growing up and as she grew into a woman feelings changed. It is a classic romance.Lucian thinks if he can make her miss him or ask for her help he can win her heart that she is so reluctant to give to any man. The man that wants her for his bride is gross to say the least. He's older, wears a corset to hide his bulk and sees nothing wrong with having a mistress after he weds. The story moves fast but there were moments I wanted it to cut to the chase. Misspelled words and a few grammar issues but nothing to harsh to take you from the story.
The love scenes were more embellished in this book from book 1 and there is a hint of book 3. Me and a friend have discussed this and I have to ask. Can a person who has been rotten and cruel be redeemed as a h? Is it possible for you to like her after you've hated her treatment of characters you fell in love with in book 1 or 2? I'm not convinced. I'm not buying that a total makeover can occur so fast. I guess we shall see. As for this book I give it a higher 3 1/2 star rating and encourage you to read book 1 if you haven't as it is a solid 4 star rating. Enjoy!

Just so so disappointing after Precious.
Enjoyed the book. I found there are only two by that author. Write more, please.
Jemima Collins and Lucian Douglas have been friends since childhood. Lucian is in love with Jemima, but she does not want to marry anyone. Will Lucian be able to thaw Jemima's heart, or is she destined to be alone? This is a sequel to 'Precious Possession' and continues where the first novel ended. I Highly Recommend both these lovely novels and the third book 'Mirage'.
